Rangers blanked by LMC, Eddies fall to Rams in shootout

The Cassopolis soccer team was blanked by visiting Lake Michigan Catholic on Sept. 1, 3-0.
Neither team scored in the opening 40 minutes of play.
The Lakers got the game-winning goal from Dan Hernandez in the 49th minute with an assist from Trey Smithers.
Lake Michigan Catholic made it 2-0 in the 57th minute on a goal by Smithers, who was assisted by Andy Buchele.
The Lakers’ final goal came in the 7th minute as Andrew Polaskey scored off an assist from Gunny Raj.
Lake Michigan outshot the Rangers 8-5.

South Haven at Edwardsburg
The Edwardsburg soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to South Haven in a shootout on Sept. 1.
Both teams scored in the first half and then it remained 1-1 throughout the remainder of the match.
Andy Boyles had the lone goal for the Eddies in the 34th minute to tie the match with an assist from Luke Rohrman.
The Rams opened up the scoring in the 22nd minute when Kyle Fitton found the back of the net.

Edwardsburg at Bridgman
BRIDGMAN – The Edwardsburg soccer team dropped to 1-4 on the season and 0-1 in the Lakeland Conference after being defeated by host Bridgman on Tuesday, 3-0.
Scoring goals for the Bees were Alex Wells, Sammy Higgin and Josh Bachleda.
The Eddies were outshot by Bridgman 9-4.
Dylan Nylund had six saves for Edwardsburg.
Bridgman is now 5-3 on the season and 2-0 in league play.

Hartford at Cassopolis
The Cassopolis soccer team defeated visiting Hartford Tuesday night, 2-1.
The Rangers grabbed a 1-0 halftime advantage on the strength of a Blaise Suseland goal in the 26th minute on a penalty kick.
The Rangers outshot the Indians 12-6 in the opening 40 minutes of action.
In the second half, Hartford tied the match at the 60th minute, but Cassopolis scored the game-winner two minutes later when George Samadder found the back of the net.
The Rangers and Indians ended the match with 15 shots on goal each.
