CASSOPOLIS — Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his deputies handled a personal-injury crash at the intersection of Barron Lake Road and Terminal Street in Howard Township at 1:27 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6.

Joseph Swetay, 40, of Cassopolis, was traveling south on Barron Lake when he crossed the center line and collided with a northbound vehicle driven by Elizabeth Servis, 63, of Dowagiac.

Swetay was transported to Lakeland hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Seatbelts were worn and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, deputies reported.

Howard Township Fire Department and SMCAS ambulance assisted deputies at the scene.
