Chiefs ninth at Wolverine golf jamboree

EAU CLAIRE — Rebounding from a fourth place finish on Monday in the opening Wolverine Conference Jamboree, Otsego captured Wednesday’s event at Indian Lake Hills Golf Course.
The Bulldogs shot 187 to edge Monday’s winner, Plainwell, by four strokes as the Trojans finished with a 191.
Vicksburg finished in third place with a 198, while Comstock was fourth with a 200 and Gull Lake, the runner-up at Sauganash Golf Club, was fifth with a 204.
Paw Paw placed sixth after shooting a 218. Three Rivers was seventh (220), Allegan eighth (239), Dowagiac ninth (239) and South Haven 10th (249).
The Chieftains bounced back from failing to post a score on Monday in the opener.
Plainwell’s Hannah Lewis was the medalist for the second straight jamboree as she fired a three-under par 33.
Dowagiac was led by Haley Smith’s 50. Lauren Smith finished with a 56, Jessica Caldwell a 64 and a 69 from Kaye Swartz.
Rikki Baker finished with an 89.
Plainwell will take a two-point lead into the next conference jamboree on Monday at South Haven.
The Trojans have 19 points, while the Bulldogs have 17.
Vicksburg is currently in third place with 16 and Gull Lake fourth with 15. Comstock is fifth with 12 points, Three Rivers sixth with 10, Paw Paw seventh with eight, Allegan eighth with seven, South Haven ninth with three and Dowagiac 10th with two.
