Jane Hickman Adelman

Jane Hickman Adelman of Hendersonville, N.C., passed away on May 17, 2010.
Jane was born in Dowagiac and received a bachelor of arts degree in pharmacy from Purdue University.

In addition to working as a pharmacist, Jane also served on the Board of Education for District 23 in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, as a board member and also later as president.

One of the main theme’s of Jane’s life was, “No education is ever wasted.”

She strove to insure every child had an opportunity to receive the best education possible, and every educator had the ability to use all tools and skills at their disposal.

Jane loved great conversation, puzzles, traveling and reading.

She was an intelligent and compassionate friend to many; always willing to help, to listen, to lend a shoulder or a little humor to help get through the tough times.

She is survived by: her sister, Judy; four children; and eight grandchildren, Susan (Tyler and Olivia), John (Alexis), David (Katherine and Jackson) and Lara (Zoe, Ian and Trevor).

She brought as much joy and love to their lives as they did to hers.
