Dowagiac JV softball team splits with ‘Dogs

The Dowagiac junior varsity softball team split a pair of games with Vicksburg on Wednesday.
The Chieftains defeated the Bulldogs 15-0 in the opening game, but dropped the nightcap 13-6.
Taylor Meiser picked up the win in the first game as she tossed a one-hitter with six strikeouts.
Corinne Kasper went 4-for-4, while Meiser and Kylee Williams each had three hits. Erin Corey finished with two hits. Shelby Huston added a double.
In the second game, Williams was 3-for-3.
Kasper and Casey Weldy both had two hits for the Chieftains.
JV baseball
The Dowagiac junior varsity baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Vicksburg on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs defeated the Chieftains 13-3 and 10-4.
Todd McIntyre and Matt Ernzen both had two hits.
Jacob Williams suffered the loss.
In the nightcap, Ernzen had two hits and drove in a run, while Logan Pellow had two hits and Jeremy Juday two RBIs.
Seth Engler was the losing pitcher.
Against Lakeshore on Monday, the Chieftains were defeated 14-3 and 4-3.
Joe Badner had a single and a double in the opening game for Dowagiac.
Ernzen suffered the loss.
In the second game, Pellow singled, doubled and drove in a run, while Engler had two hits and an RBI.
Ryne Willming suffered the loss.
