Norma J. Whitmyer, 88, of Edwardsburg passed on April 13, 2010 while a patient at Cass County Medical Care Facility, Cassopolis.

She was born March 4, 1922 in Elkhart to Lloyd and Wilma (Tavernier) Barwick. She lived in Michiana all her life. She retired from Selmer, where she assembled band instruments, in 1989.

She was a member of the Elkhart Moose, and was active in the lodge, holding several of the offices. She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Edwardsburg.

She married Hubert Whitmyer on June 30, 1951 in Elkhart. He passed away in 1977.
She is survived by her children, Janice M. Read, of Edwardsburg and Edward (Ramona) Whitmyer; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris Nusbaum, of Elkhart.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, George Barwick; and a sister, Ann Marie Grimeison.

Friends may visit with the family Sunday, April 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hope United Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Rd. Visitation will be one hour before the Service of Remembrance at 11 a.m. Monday at Hope United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jeff Reese of the church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
