CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Ancilla softball team travelled to Prairie State College (IL) and picked up their first two wins of the season, defeating the Pioneers 17-9 and 16-0.
Ancilla (2-2) used a ten run fourth inning to take command of game one and a nine run second inning to roll ahead in game two.
The Lady Chargers scattered 21 hits in the first game, including three hit performances from Demi Schrader, Lindsay Duke, Meghan Brown, Justine McBride, and Amber Edmundson. Schrader drove in a school record six RBIs in the game, while McBride finished the contest with three RBIs.
Allison Chiles earned her first collegiate victory, giving up just three earned runs and striking out five.
Game two saw a tremendous all-around game from Ancilla. McBride led the way in the circle, throwing the first shutout of the year and allowing just three hits.
The Charger defense put in a stellar performance. Although they committed two errors, they doubled both of those runners off base. The bats did not disappoint either as many multiple hit performances were created by Ancilla.
Duke notched her third three hit game of the season, while Amanda Thomason, Trina Bauer and McBride contributed two hits each. Duke and Alisha Davenport supplied three RBIs apiece to the victory.
