Edwardsburg’s Bywaters places 8th at state

AUBURN HILLS – Freshman Gage Hutchison and junior Mack Green of Buchanan finished sixth and seventh respectively at the Michigan High School Division 3 Individual Wrestling Finals over the weekend.
Edwardsburg’s Devin Bywaters placed eighth.
Hutchison (51-6) went 3-3 at the state tournament, which began on Thursday at The Palace of Auburn Hills and wrapped up on Saturday.
Hutchison was defeated by Richmond’s Roger Crump in the 160-pound fifth place match 6-3.
Green (51-4) was 3-2 at the finals, winning the seventh place match at 215-pounds over Jeff Tyburski of Grosse Ile 1-0.
Bywaters posted a 2-3 record at the state finals and finished the year at 37-12.
Bywaters, a senior, dropped his final match of the tournament to Darwin Mathis of Wyoming Godwin Heights 18-13.
Also in Division 3, Dowagiac’s Ben Luth went 1-2 and finished the year at 44-14.
Luth won his first match at 130-pounds on Thursday and then dropped back-to-back matches on Friday and was eliminated.
Buchanan’s Taylor Glavin (103) went 0-2 and finished at 41-14, while Jeff Mucha (130) also lost his first two matches to finish the season at 36-17.
The Bucks’ Adam Byrdak (152) won his first match of the tournament and then dropped the next two and finished at 40-14.
Edwardsburg’s Michael Kempton (112) and Terry Brasfield (140) were both eliminated after the first two rounds.
Kempton finishes the year at 46-15 and Brasfield at 42-18.
In Division 2, Niles’ Colin Burandt lost his first two matches at 130-pounds and ended the year with a 42-17 overall record.
In Division 4, Brandywine’s Chanc Ravish was 1-2 at 125-pounds and Ralph Sater was 0-2 at 135-pounds.
Ravish finishes the year with a 46-12 record.
Sater was injured in his first match on Thursday and then defaulted on Friday to finish with a 45-11 mark on the season.
