Brandywine junior high cage teams suffer split

The Brandywine seventh grade girls’ basketball team defeated Buchanan Wednesday afternoon 32-14.

Brooke Smith led all scorers with 20 points.

The Bobcats’ eighth grade team dropped a 22-20 decision to the Bucks.

Tia Hullinger led Brandywine with six points.

The Niles junior varsity girls’ basketball team played one of its best games of the season, but came up short against Mattawan, 33-31.

The Vikings rallied from an eight point deficit in the final quarter to tie the game at 31-31.

Mattawan hit a shot at the buzzer to earn the victory.

Michelle Briand led Niles with 13 points, while Brea Haines added nine and Quiana Wine finished with seven.

The Niles junior varsity boys’ basketball team was edged by Mattawan Thursday night, 58-50.

Logan Harpenau led the Vikings with 17 points, while Brandon Partee added 13 and Parnell Martin 12.
