State Rep. John Proos, R-St. Joseph, visited Sister Lakes Elementary School fifth graders on Friday, Jan 22, to deliver calculators and stop watches to fulfill Mrs. Kristie Bussler's Christmas wish list, according to Principal Matt Severin.

State Rep. John Proos Monday completed his visits of eight southwest Michigan schools where he delivered school supplies donated by Wal-Mart.

Proos worked closely with Wal-Mart to fulfill the wishes of teachers in our communities.
“Each year I look forward to working with Wal-Mart and our local schools on this project. Through this partnership, we have been able to provide resources to our students that they otherwise would not have access to,” said Proos, R-St. Joseph.

Proos said that the classrooms involved were randomly selected from a list of teacher’s wishes published in the newspaper in December.

Schools chosen this year were Eastside School in Niles, Dowagiac Sister Lakes Elementary School, Red Arrow Elementary School in Hartford, Bangor Primary School, E.P. Clarke Elementary School in St. Joseph, Fairplain West Elementary School in Benton Harbor, Bridgman Elementary School and Eau Claire Middle School.

Items donated ranged from boom boxes to physical education equipment to class sets of headphones, dry erase boards and calculators.
