Myers nowDonald “Gabe” and Jo Ann Myers, M-51 North, Dowagiac, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 10, 2009, with a party for family and friends at Dowagiac Conservation Club.

They married Oct. 17, 1959, at the Federated Church in Dowagiac and have lived in Dowagiac their entire lives.

They are the parents of Roger (Kelly) Myers of Brighton and Valerie (Brandon) Root of Oostburg, Wis.

They have three granddaughters and two grandsons – Morgan, Gabrielle, Andrew and Claire Myers of Brighton and Ashton Root of Oostburg.

Jo Ann retired from Southwestern Michigan College in 2000 after serving as administrative secretary to the vice president for instruction for 32 years.

Gabe retired from Two Paws Ford in Paw Paw, also in 2000, after working as a service department manager and in sales for a variety of car dealerships throughout his career.

In the mid- and late-’60s he owned and operated two service stations in Dowagiac.

The couple enjoy traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
