Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz announced Friday he has charged former Dowagiac funeral director David Groner, 66, with possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a drug house, possession of marijuana and as an habitual third offender as a result of a search of Groner’s home at 208 Michigan Ave. on or about Oct. 27.

The maximum penalty if convicted is 20 years in prison.

Arraignment on the charges is expected to take place in front of Fourth District Court Judge Stacey Rentfrow at 3:30 p.m.today, Nov. 2.

Groner was on felony probation at the time of this incident stemming from his misuse of funds involving his funeral home business in Dowagiac, which he exited in the summer of 2007 after 37 years.
