Ned and Lou (Walters) Sutherland, of 54991 Sunset Drive, Dowagiac, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary July 25, 2009.

Lou retired in 1995 fro the Michigan Department of Social Services in Cass County.
Ned retired in 1996 as vocational director for Lewis Cass Intermediate School District after 40 years in education.

The Sutherlands are the parents of Les and Shelley Sutherland of Miami, Fla., Lisa and Mike Broderick of St. Joseph, Julie Eastman of Watervliet and Jan Sutherland of Niles.
They have six grandchildren, Sarah and Kevin Eastman, Kelly, Megan and Amy Broderick and Tyler Parish.

Ned and Lou celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends July 19 at Wood Fire in Dowagiac.
