CASSOPOLIS – The Cassopolis boys’ basketball team finally has a new coach.
Athletic Director Bob Guse announced Monday that James Moore will replace Josh Hood as the varsity basketball coach this winter.

Hood resigned the position back in March and then took the Brandywine girls’ varsity basketball position.

Moore, who is an At-Risk coordinator for the Three Rivers school district, was informed on Sept. 16 by Guse that he would be the next Ranger head coach.

Moore was selected from among approximately eight candidates. The selection committee included Guse, school board members, boosters, administrators and a member of the boys’ basketball coaching staff.

Moore, who will not leave his position in Three Rivers, has coached at the junior varsity and freshman levels, as well as being a varsity assistant coach for the Wildcats.

Moore has also been an assistant coach at Glen Oaks Community College, although this will be his first varsity head coaching position.

Cassopolis won a pair of district championships under Hood. The Rangers bring back three starters this season.
