BATTLE CREEK – The Buchanan varsity volleyball team reached the quarterfinals of the 20-team Battle Creek St. Philip Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.
In pool play, Buchanan fell to Battle Creek Harper Creek 18-25, 16-25, split with Quincy 11-25, 26-24, lost to Kalamazoo Central 23-25, 23-25 and split with Westland 25-17, 17-25.
In the Silver Division quarterfinals, the Lady Bucks were defeated by Birmingham Groves 23-25 and 22-25.
Audrey Oake led Buchanan with 32 kills, 10 digs and seven blocks.
The Lady Bucks also got 12 kills, seven blocks and two aces from Rachel Briggs, while Alexis Lenox finished with 30 digs, 70 assists, three kills and three aces.
Kelsie Patrick had 17 kills, Kirsten Smallwood seven kills, Rachel Downs 65 digs, Brooke Shultz 33 digs, Ashley Luzadure 20 digs and Devinn Adams 20 digs.
