Kalamazoo Christian takes Buck Classic title

Kalamazoo Christian captured the Buck Classic 1 Tennis Tournament on Saturday.

The Comets overcame the field and the weather to score 79 points and easily win the team championship.

Buchanan was second with 58 points and South Bend, Ind. Riley third with 36 points.

Niles finished fourth with 26 points, Three Rivers fifth (19), Edwardsburg sixth (12), Kalamazoo Central seventh (9) and Brandywine eighth (2).

Buchanan and Niles both one just one flight championship.

The Bucks’ Derek Blank took top honors at No. 4 singles with an 8-4 win over Blake Reeves of Three Rivers.

Chris and Alex Lewellen of Niles defeated Ryan Henckel and Josh Whitfield of Buchanan to captured the championship at No. 1 doubles.
