Fernwood Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve will host a reception on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2 to 4 p.m. for the new exhibit from husband and wife, Jim and Bev Munson of Kalamazoo in the Clark Gallery.

Jim is an avid nature photographer drawn to large-scale scenery and animals of all sizes. He is particularly interested in photographing birds in flight and enjoys the completely manual processes and active thinking that are required for large format photography.

Quilting has been an energizing force in Bev’s life as it provides endless opportunities for learning and creativity. She is a founding member of Kalamazoo’s Log Cabin Quilters and has four quilts featured in books. Two other quilts were shown at the International Quilt Festival and one at the American Quilt Museum’s annual competition. Her quilts feature hand and machine sewing, piecing, and appliqué. Her favorite aspect of quilting is the process of choosing color and fabric.

The exhibit runs through Sept. 27.
