Council to decide tonight on $10,000 of purchases

The City of Niles City Council tonight, will consider the purchase of a web-based training seminar from Flake Consulting, Inc. of Sarasota, Fla. for the benefit all departments at a cost of $4,495.
Also on the agenda for Monday is the consideration of approving a request from the Utilities Department’s electrical division to purchase infrastructure equipment for the new Eastside Substation transformer from Power Line Supply of Reed City, at a cost of $6,860.94.
Other considerations are
• Approving a request to enter into an agreement with Residential Services of Southwestern Michigan (RSSM) to provide administration services for the Homeowner Assistance Program funded through the Community Development Block Grant Entitlement Program.
• Approving a request from the City Clerk for the relocation of the polling location for Second Ward/Second Precinct to the Niles City Niles High School at 1441 Eagle St., as per Section 6621 of the Michigan Election Law, P.A. 166 of 1955, as amended with such relocation to be effective immediately and consideration of accepting the quote of $820.82 from Michigan Election Resources of Kalamazoo for the printing and mailing of mandatory notices to affected residents.
The meeting will start at 6 p.m. tonight.
Should the request be approved that night, the Monday, Aug. 24 meeting of the Council will start at 5:55 p.m. to receive input from the public on the City of Niles’ 2010 budget.
