Man charged in wife’s death in Watervliet Township mishap

ST. JOSEPH – Berrien County Prosecuting Attorney Arthur J. Cotter announced Wednesday that he has authorized the charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol causing death against Scott Theodore White, 45, in the death of his wife, Deborah Lynn White, 40.
The incident occurred approximately 2 a.m. on Aug. 2, 2009, in the vicinity of Forest Beach Road at Paw Paw Avenue in Watervliet Township.
It is alleged that White, while operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol, ran over his wife when she exited their vehicle during an argument.
Operating under the influence of alcohol causing death is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
White was arraigned on the charge Wednesday.
His bond was set at $15,000 cash or surety with a condition that he remain on react tether while out on bond.
A pre-exam conference has been set on his case for Aug. 14 at 8:30 a.m., with a preliminary examination set for Aug. 18 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Angela M. Pasula.
