The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that one woman was sent to the hospital early Monday morning in an accident that took place on US-12 near the intersection of Mayflower Road.

According to Lt. Don Goulooze with the BCSD’s Niles post, the driver of a vehicle crossed the center line eastbound on US-12 and collided with a semi.

The semi, upon seeing the car cross the line pulled off the road, but Goulooze said the vehicle struck the trailer.

The driver, who was not identified at press time, was believed to have been returning from her job in New Buffalo and is a resident of Mishawaka, Ind.

She was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind.
