During the meeting of the Niles City Council tonight, officials will hear a request by the Niles-Buchanan Habitat for Humanity to waive applicable City of Niles permit fees in the amount of approximately $1,548 to facilitate the construction of a new residence on Hill Street in Niles.
Also on the agenda for Monday night’s meeting, the Niles City Police Department will bestow a Certificate of Appreciation to Dale Mangold, who has been serving his community for 12 years as a crossing guard and just recently retired.
Up for consideration by the council:
– A request by the Utilities Department to approve the emergency repair of a variable frequency drive on a high service pump at the Water Filtration Plant by All Phase Electric Supply of South Bend, Ind., at a cost of $3,473.33.
– The Utilities Department has also submitted a request for approval to accept the bid of $10,500 from T&R Electric of Coleman, South Dakota for the purchase of a 750 KVA pad mount transformer and another for the purchase of three submersible solids handling pumps on behalf of Howard Township from Detroit Pump & Manufacturing Company of Grand Rapids, at a cost of $12,606.
– The Police Department is requesting to accept the quote of $10,535 for the purchase of a UHF 100w communications repeater from Hi-Tech/SMR Communications of Niles.
– A request by Niles Dial-A-Ride Transportation to accept the high bid of $500 from Michael J. Vaughn for the purchase of a previously wrecked and stripped down bus.
And as part of the City Administrator’s report, the council will be asked to adopt a resolution approving an agreement with the State of Michigan to approve participation in the Michigan Emergency Management Assistance Compact (MEMAC) to provide for support when assisting other communities in fire or other emergencies for extended periods of time.
