Man, 56, facing drug, guns charges

ST. JOSEPH – A Niles man was arrested on four charges Monday evening as the Berrien County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit, with assistance from the road patrol and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, executed a search warrant for illegal narcotics at 1819 N. 5th St., Apt. 110.
Prior to executing the search warrant, road patrol deputies detained Michael Richard Robinson, 56, outside of his apartment at this location, Det. Sgt. Robert Boyce said Wednesday.
During execution of the search warrant at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 5, officers reported locating and seizing approximately $500 worth of marijuana along with other evidence of illegal narcotic trafficking.
Officers also found and seized six firearms and miscellaneous ammunition from this residence.
The Berrien County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit confiscated $802 in U.S. currency under the Michigan civil forfeiture law.
Boyce said Robinson is a convicted felon who was previously arrested and convicted in the federal court system for firearm violations.
Robinson was lodged at Berrien County Jail on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, maintaining a drug house, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
