Dorothy's life began Feb. 14, 1923, in Detroit, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Graham) Zink.
She was united in marriage to James Brechenser on Sept. 14, 1943, in Fort Jackson, S.C.
Dorothy was a homemaker and a parishioner at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church.
She is survived by: her daughters, Dorothy "Butch" Thatcher of Niles and Jamie (Darrel) Dirksen of West Lafayette, Ind.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a half brother, Douglas Graham of Battle Creek.
Dorothy, 85, passed away at her Dowagiac home on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009.
She is preceded in death by her husband James in 1985, her daughter Kristin Cox, sisters Helen Bower and Marian Rettig and brother Robert Zink.
Her family will gather with friends on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at McLauchlin-Clark Funeral Home, where her service will be led by Father Leo Taubitz of Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church.
She will be laid to rest in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to St. Vincent DePaul's Society or to the Salvation Army.
