CASSOPOLIS – If your New Year's resolutions include working for world peace or helping others, you may want to attend the WAND open house at the Cass District Main Librar, 319 M-62, on Monday, Jan. 12, at 5:30 p.m.
You'll meet many like-minded women from this area.
Women's Action for New Directions or WAND is an international group with national headquarters in Boston and a strong lobby in Washington, D.C.
Originally conceived in the 1980s to stop the proliferation of nuclear weapons, its mission has broadened to empower women to act politically to promote peaceful change at all levels of government.
This is done through grass roots efforts, as well as encouraging legislators to act in the best interest of their constituents.
The SW Chapter of WAND has accomplished a great deal during the past two years, and has plans for many interesting, important projects for 2009.
All are welcome to learn more about WAND and upcoming activities.
Light refreshments will be served. Call 646-0401or 445-2431 with questions.
