Planning Commission: Meets Monday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m.
Donations for the needy: We will be placing a large box in the hallway on the first floor of City Hall for donations of new or gently used coats, hats, gloves and toys, and also for non-perishable food items for the holidays.
We'll accept donations until Dec. 12.
The items will go to families in need in Dowagiac. Please be generous, as it may be a difficult holiday for many this year.
Christmas parade: The Dowagiac Candlelight Christmas Parade opens at 7 p.m. with pre-parade entertainment on Front Street, where the Dogwood Chorale will perform atop the Master of Ceremonies' viewing stage.
There will be in excess of 100 marching and motorized units and an estimated 3,000 spectators who will line the sidewalks to enjoy the parade. New this year will be the opening of City Hall to the public for restroom use.
Citizens can also enjoy refreshments, which will be served in the main hallway at City Hall.
Premier closing: I am pleased to report that Premier Tool and Die has completed the real estate transaction and now own the building at 415 N. Paul. We look forward to their moving forward with the placement of equipment and new employment opportunities in the City of Dowagiac.
Assistant City Manager Rose Scherr and Economic Development Consultant Cindy LaGrow were instrumental in assisting Premier in receiving economic incentives from the MEDC to make business opportunity possible. We appreciate their diligent efforts to attract businesses to our community!
