Dowagiac City Council Monday night accepted a $21,781 bid, which includes delivery, to buy a 2009, four-wheel-drive Ford Explorer for the Police Department. City Manager Kevin Anderson said the purchase, for which three proposals were received, will replace the sergeants' 2005 Ford Explorer.
Low bidder was Signature Ford of Owosso, through the Macomb County contract.
Police Chief Tom Atkinson recommended awarding the contract to the low bidder. Atkinson said police budgeted $22,673 in the motor pool equipment replacement fund for this purchase, so his department came in $892 under budget.
