There are a lot of great web sites out there on the World Wide Web, but one in particular is a favorite of mine.
Anyone who is a fan of Michigan High School football should be aware of this web site –
What is particularly great about this site is if you want to know the score or the team records for every team in the state of Michigan since 1950, then head over and check it out.
It's a great tool for me because I often check on scores from games I cannot easily find or if I want to see how many times a certain team has beaten the other in a row.
It's also useful in learning the records of teams meeting in the playoffs.
For instance, if I wanted to know how many times Dowagiac and Comstock had faced each other in the post season, I would head on over and look it up.
Even more interesting if their section listing the top football programs of all-time since 1950.
There are 621 football teams listed in order of winning percentage, including the post season.
Probably to no one's surprise, Farmington Hills Harrison is the all-time winningest football team in Michigan with a .811 winning percentage.
The Hawks are 354-82-1 overall.
The are followed by Jackson Lumen Christi with a .790 winning percentage and 335 wins and just 89 losses.
Of the six core schools will cover, Brandywine, Buchanan, Cassopolis, Dowagiac, Edwardsburg and Niles, only the Chieftains are in the top 200.
Dowagiac is currently 53rd on the list, ahead of the likes of Lakeshore and St. Joseph, two teams that have been perennial powerhouses in Southwest Lower Michigan for decades.
Dowagiac trails Farmington Hills by just nine games in the win column. The Chieftains are 343-180-10 since 1950 for a winning percentage of .653.
The other five schools are ranked between 210 and 296 and they all have winning records.
Cassopolis comes in at 210 with a 289-242-7 record (.544), while Buchanan is eight spots below the Rangers at 278-237-7 (.539).
Niles is next in line at 238 having won 275 games, lost 244 and tied eight for a winning percentage of .529.
Edwardsburg is 296 on the list with a record of 251-245-13 (.506).
What does that all mean? No much really, but it is fun to get out there and look at how our area schools stack up against some of the "big boys."
Plus, it's fun once and a while to just get out on the web and do something other than go to YouTube or check out how your fantasy team is doing.
So if you have some spare time and you are looking for something fun to do on the Internet, then head on over to and check it out.
