Brandywine football team academic All-State

NILES – The Brandywine varsity football team has been selected honorable mention Academic All-State by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association.
The Bobcats, who compete in Division 6, posted a team grade point average of 3.474.
Saginaw Nouvel (3.93), Constantine (3.866), Calumet (3.831) and Iron Mountain (3.808) were Academic All-State.
Also named to the honorable mention portion of the team were Union City, Manchester, Clare, Schoolcraft, Ithaca, Reese, Leslie, St. Charles, Sutton's Bay, Charlevoix, Riverview Gabriel Richard, Boyne City and Quincy.
The Dowagiac varsity football team has earned Academic All-State honorable mention as well.
The Chieftains had a team grade point average of 3.12.
Academic All-State honors were given to Alma (3.957), Spring Lake (3.91), Clintondale (3.868) and Milan (3.848) in Division 4.
Honorable mention was also given to Zeeland West, Hamilton, Flint Powers Catholic, Whitehall, Ogemaw Heights, Lansing Catholic, Cranbrook-Catholic, Williamston, Unity Christian, Belding, Howard City Tri-County, Grant and Marysville.
In Division 3, Lakeshore and St. Joseph both received honorable mention All-State status. In Division 6, Brandywine earned honorable mention honors with a GPA of 3.474.
In Division 8, Michigan Lutheran earned Academic All-State with a GPA of 3.84.
Dowagiac senior Jake Cox was named Academic All-State special mention.
Cox, who was the Chieftains' quarterback, was joined on the special mention portion of the squad by St. Joseph's Ethan Schweir.
Lakeshore's Dylan Dinkley was an honorable mention (second team) pick.
