NILES – The Niles freshmen girls' basketball team held off the Lady Knights for a 45-36 triumph Friday night.
Whitney Ellis scored 14, while Krystal Avance followed with 13. Taylor Glick had eight steals. Rebound leaders were Ellis and Haley Pagan with seven each.
Niles' junior varsity crushed Loy Norrix 49-17.
George Brawley's team shut out the Knights, completely, in the third quarter. Savannah Wolnik scored 15 and Jordan Brown had nine. They are 7-1 on the year.
Brawley commented, "Defensively, we are really, really good. We had a press that kept them out the first four minutes of the game."
