NILES – If you have 10 hours a month and are able to attend one board meeting, you can help battered women in the area.
Polly's Place of Niles is currently looking for board members who are compassionate and have a desire to want to help the community.
"We are looking for people to join the board who are able to attend just one meeting a month and give at least 10 hours of their time helping with various projects," Lynette Rhodes, director of marketing and public relations for Polly's Place said.
Those wishing to join will be responsible for helping with ideas to help make a better organization, fundraising ideas and much more.
"We are renewing our board and want to have more fire, desire and outlook on the whole organization," Rhodes said.
Board meetings take place on the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m.
Polly's Place is a shelter for abused and bettered women to seek safe shelter. Originally started in Niles in 1997, Polly's Place has reached out to other states in the U.S. and Polly's Place Network was established. The goal is to establish a shelter in each union in the United States.
According to Rhodes, there are big plans for the future of Polly's Place as they hope to provide a maternity home for abused and battered women in the near future.
