You can begin to get that holiday spirit over the next couple of weekends in southwest lower Michigan.
In Niles on Saturday, the Four Flags Garden Club will hold its 16th annual Hometown Christmas, with the lighting of the Amtrak Depot.
The festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. and run until 6:30.
Besides the actual lighting of the depot, there will be entertainment, homemade cookies, candy and cider, as well as an appearance by Santa Claus.
There will also be a drawing for two round trip train tickets to Chicago.
The following weekend, the holiday spirit will get another boost as Dowagiac holds its annual Candle-light Christmas Parade on Friday, Dec. 7.
The parade will feature 115 units and will begin with pre-parade entertainment at 7 p.m.
The Dogwood Chorale will perform atop the Master of Ceremonies' viewing stand prior to the parade stepping off at 7:30 p.m.
There will be floats and bands, queens and emergency response vehicles, not to mention the appearance of Santa Claus.
So if you are in need of a little help in lifting your Christmas spirit, than take in one of these two events.
You will not be disappointed.
