MATTAWAN – The Niles freshmen girls' basketball team was defeated by host Mattawan in its season opener on Tuesday, 23-15.
The Lady Vikings junior varsity squad picked up a 65-18 decision over Lady Wildcats.
Delaina Croom and Savannah Wolnik led the Niles junior varsity with 14 points each. Croom had four 3-pointers in the contest.
Taylor Glick led the Lady Vikings freshmen with six points, both coming on 3-pointers.
Niles returns to action tonight as it hosts St. Joseph. The freshmen game is scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m., with the junior varsity contest to follow at 5:45.
The varsity game is slated to tip off at 7:30 p.m.
