Miss Buchanan pageant will take contestants on a ‘Holiday in Tahiti’

BUCHANAN – The 2008 Miss Buchanan Pageant, "Holiday in Tahiti," will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Buchanan High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m., and tickets can be purchased at Guys &Dolls Styling from the contestants or at the door. Tickets are $15.
The Coronation Ball will be held immediately following the pageant at the American Legion Post 51. Tickets are $5 at the door.
The contestants are as follows:
Contestant 1 is Ciara Myers. She lives in Buchanan, and is 17 years old. Her parents are Donald and Andrea Myers. She plans to study elementary music education at Bethel College.
Contestant 2 is Mary Siemon. She lives in Niles and is 17. Her parents are Lynne and Robert Siemon. She plans to study history, political science and English at Central Michigan University.
Contestant 3 is Julia Henry. She lives in Buchanan and is 17. Her parents are Ginger and Lynn Henry and Mike Wregglesworth. She plans to study elementary education first at Everett Community College and then Seattle University.
Contestant 5 is Emily Ross. She is 17 and is from Buchanan. Her parents are Don and Dianne Ross. She plans to study athletic training at a four-year college.
Contestant 6 is Mercedes Weaver. She is 17 years old and is from Buchanan. Her parents are Paul Sr. and Betty Weaver. She plans to study medicine at to the University of Michigan.
Contestant 7 is Megan Curry, 17, of Niles, the daughter of Jeff and Diane Curry. She plans to attend Indiana University, South Bend to study education or business.
Contestant 8 is Jordan Wahlstrom, from Buchanan. The 17-year-old is the daughter of Scott and Stacy Wahlstrom. She plans to attend Grand Valley State University to study elementary education.
Contestant 9 is Brianne Weldy of Buchanan. She is 17 years old. Her parents are Phil and Dale Weldy. She plans to attend Kentucky Christian University.
Contestant 10 is Taylor Krumrie of Buchanan. She is 17 years old. Her parents are Tina and Mark Krumrie. She plans to study Criminal Justice at Western Michigan University.
Contestant 11 is Noelle Granger also of Buchanan. She is 17 and her parents are Larry and Daleen Granger. She plans to attend California State to study environmental science.
Contestant 12 is Carri Tallman of Niles. She is 17 years old. Her parents are Kim and Dave Tallman. She plans to train to become an animal control officer.
Contestant 13 is Alexis Reagan. She lives in Buchanan and is 17 years old. Her mom is Julie Williams. She plans to attend a four-year college of her choosing.
Contestant 14 is Katina Kourlas of Buchanan, who is 17 years old. Her mother is Eva Kourlas. She plans to attend first Southwestern Michigan College and then Grand Valley State University to study therapeutic recreation.
Contestant 15 is Aleischa Shepherd. She is from Buchanan and is 17 years old. Her parents are Susan and Timmy Shepherd. She plans to attend Indiana University to study law, and then attend Lake Superior State to study forensic chemistry.
Contestant 16 is Stephanie Stanton, 17, is from Buchanan. Her parents are Richard and Angela Scull. She plans to study nursing, first at Lake Michigan Collage, then transfer to Saint Mary's College.
Contestant 17 is Mary Martin is from Buchanan. She is 17 years old and the daughter of Alan and Claire Martin. She plans to attend college to study dental hygiene.
