Search on Sycamore finds drugs

NILES – A search at a home in the 800 block of Sycamore Street in Niles Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. resulted in the seizure of a quantity of drugs.
At the time of the search warrant execution, the suspect and four children were located inside the residence.
Denetra Chanel-Lynn Murray, 30, of 810 Sycamore St. was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana and maintaining a drug house.
During the search of the residence, officers seized crack cocaine, marijuana, a scale and other evidence of narcotic trafficking from inside of the residence.
Also seized under the State of Michigan Civil Forfeiture Law was $50.00 in U.S. currency and two cell phones.
The suspect was lodged in the Berrien County Jail. The children were released to a friend.
Berrien County Animal Control assisted at the scene by capturing a vicious pit bull dog.
The Berrien County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Unit was assisted by the Berrien County Sheriff's Department Road Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Violent Crime Task Force, Niles Police Department and the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). The search warrant resulted from a three-week long investigation by the Narcotics Unit.
