CENTREVILLE – The Brandywine girls' varsity basketball team dropped its season opener Monday night at the Centreville-Constantine Tournament.
The Lady Bobcats (0-1) fell to host Centreville (1-0) 40-27.
Brandywine was just 5-of-48 from the field and 17-of-35 from the free throw line.
The Lady Bobcats did force 37 turnovers.
"That's the one thing that kept us in the game," Brandywine coach Mark Zache said. "It was just a struggle offensively. I am hoping that it was just the first game jitters and we never shoot the ball like that again."
Jen Marshman led the Lady Bobcats with five points.
Brandywine is back in action tonight in the consolation game against Bloomingdale.
Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
