MHSAA volleyball districts begin tonight

NILES – It's district volleyball time.
Tonight Niles, Brandywine, Dowagiac and Edwardsburg will open up the Michigan High School Athletic Association post season at three sites.
Niles will compete in the Class A district at Portage Central, while Brandywine will make the short journey over to Eau Claire High School.
Dowagiac and Edwardsburg will be at Berrien Springs High School tonight for a doubleheader.
Class A
Portage Northern and Portage Central will play in the opening match of the tournament at 5:30 tonight.
Niles will face Kalamazoo Central in the second match at 7:30 p.m.
Kalamazoo Loy Norrix will get the winner of the Portage match on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., while Mattawan will take on the winner of the Niles-Kalamazoo Central match at 7:30. The finals are slated for Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Class C
The Lady Bobcats will face Lakeland Conference foe River Valley in the first match tonight at 5:30.
Bridgman will face Watervliet in the second match at 7 p.m.
New Buffalo will get the winner of the Brandywine-River Valley Match on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Host Eau Claire will play the winner of the Bridgman-Watervliet match at 7 p.m.
The finals are also slated for Friday at 8:30 p.m.
Also in Class C, the Cassopolis varsity volleyball team will travel to Marcellus to take on Constantine tonight at 5.
The winner will advance to face Centreville on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Host Marcellus will face Mendon on Oct. 30 approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the Cassopolis-Constantine match.
The winner will advance to the second semifinal on Saturday against White Pigeon. That match will be played approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the first semifinal.
The championship match is set for Saturday, approximately 30 minutes after the completion of the second semifinal.
Class B
Dowagiac will take on St. Joseph in the first match tonight at 5.
The winner will advance to face Buchanan in the semifinals on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Edwardsburg will face host Berrien Springs in the second match at approximately 6:30 p.m.
The winner will advance to face Lakeshore in the second semifinals on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
The championship match is set for Saturday, at 10 a.m.
