Weedon, Harrell move on in Division 3

PORTAGE – Two runners from both Brandywine and Buchanan will be competing at the Michigan High School Athletic Association state cross country finals on Saturday.
Representing the Bobcats will be Tyler Weedon and Ashley Harrell, while the Bucks will send Torie Eger and Liz Hein to the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
Weedon finished 13th overall with a time of 17:20.9 in the boys' race, while Harrell advanced with a 14th place finish and a time of 20:59.4.
Eger and Liz Hein finished eighth and 12th respectively in the Division 3 race.
Eger was clocked at 20:25.2, while Hein ran a time of 21:06.
Lindsay Sanders of Schoolcraft was the overall race winner with a clocking of 19:47.7. She helped lead the Lady Eagles to the team championship.
Schoolcraft easily outdistanced runner-up Kalamazoo Christian. The Lady Eagles had five runners in the top 10 and finished with 20 points. Kalamazoo Hackett was third.
Buchanan finished sixth, Berrien Springs seventh and Dowagiac ninth.
The other Buchanan finishers were Courtney Adolph (35th), Allysa Kruchkow (39th), Chelsea Adolph (40th), Allie Hemphill (42nd) and Ashley Best (43rd).
Nicole Newman finished 57th for the Lady Bobcats, while Jordenne Ferenczi was 62nd and Kelci Lockwood 64th.
Bangor won the team title with 30 points. Kalamazoo Hackett finished second and Schoolcraft third.
Berrien Springs finished fourth, Brandwine ninth, Buchanan 11th and Dowagiac 12th.
Elliott Richards finished 32nd for the Bobcats. Aaron Sieting was 51st, Tom Buzzard 71st, David Dykema 74th and Samual Gibson 78th.
Buchanan was led by Jon Young's 40th place finish and a time of 19:17.5.
The Bucks also got a 42nd place finish for Rick Reith, a 45th place finish from John Kuntz, a 64th place finish from Josh Tidey and a 77th place finish from Allan Morse.
