NILES – In conjunction with the Michigan Department of Education, Niles Community Schools would like to seek out our greatest living legacy, our U.S. Military Veterans, as their recognition day approaches.
To any veteran – the school system would love the chance for its students to see you and hear from you about your experiences – and learn about your patriotism and sacrifices to preserve their country.
On Friday, Nov. 9, veterans are invited to have lunch with the students, at the school building of your choice.
Each school has different lunch times, so to make your plans please call Linda Libs at the curriculum office, Niles Community Schools, 683-0736, or email her at Linda.Libs@nilesschools.org, and tell her which building you would like to attend. If you leave voice mail, leave your phone number so they can get back to you.
They will provide you with a student host or hostess, and treat you to lunch with a class of students.
If you would like to talk to the class about your experiences, that would be great, but it is not required – they really just want to get to meet you.
You are also welcome to wear or bring all or parts of your uniform, but again this is not required.
The schools say thanks for helping them teach their students about our heritage of military service.
