Lady Bobcats top Centreville

NILES – It wasn't pretty, but the Brandywine varsity volleyball team tuned up for its Lakeland Conference showdown with co-leader Coloma with a win Monday night.
The Lady Bobcats defeated visiting Centreville in a non-conference match, 25-18, 25-22, 24-26 and 25-11.
"It was an ugly win for us, but a win none the less," first-year Brandywine coach Sara Eaton said. "Now we're focused on our next match against Coloma. It will be a tough one."
The Lady Bobcats will travel to Coloma to face the Lady Comets on Wednesday.
On Monday night, Coloma defeated host Niles in three games. (see related story this page)
Katie Smallwood had a big night for the Lady Bobcats as she finished with 10 kills, six blocks, eight digs and two aces.
Brandywine also got 11 kills, 10 digs, one block and three aces from Kendra Zache, while Ashley Light had eighth digs, three kills and three aces.
Lauren Leonard added four kills, three digs and three aces to the Brandywine statistics. Jenna Harris had eight digs, one kill and two aces, while Julie Barnett had six digs and Karli Wendorf had five digs.
Freshmen Volleyball
The Brandywine freshmen volleyball team was also a winner Monday night over Centreville.
The Lady Bobcats defeated the Lady Bulldogs 25-15 and 25-21.
Brittney Molica finished with four aces, while Kelsey Prestly had three kills.
JV Volleyball
Brandywine was defeated by Centreville 27-25, 17-25 and 13-25.
No individual statistics were provided.
