NILES – In one of best matches of the season, the host Niles freshmen volleyball team lost to Lakeshore Wednesday night, 25-23, 22-25 and 13-15.
"How do you know if you just witnessed one of the best volleyball matches of the season? After the game you look up at the stands and the parents faces are blue from holding the breaths between volleys," Niles coach Tami Williams said. "Your team just lost and they come off the court smiling and are yelling they can't wait for the next match, which they will be going up against some of the best teams in the state.
"This was our first conference loss and I have never been more proud of my team's play. We are ready for our last and hardest tournament of the season this weekend. The only thing I felt bad about in our lose, was that not more people come out and see our team play. I promise my girls are a treat to watch," she added.
