The Dowagiac varsity golf team captured the Wolverine Conference golf championship with a second place finish on Tuesday at Pine View Golf Course near Three Rivers.
Gull Lake won the conference tournament with a team total of 400. The Chieftains shot 416 to finish second and win the league title by a single point.
Dowagiac finished with 23 points, while Gull Lake was second with 22 points. Vicksburg finished third with 18 points. Plainwell and South Haven tied for fourth with 13 points.
Rounding out the order of finish were Otsego (10), Comstock (5) and Three Rivers (4).
On Tuesday at Pine View, Vicksburg finished third with a team score of 427. South Haven was fourth with a 431, while Otsego finished fifth with a 434.
Plainwell (449), Three Rivers (451) and Comstock (474) finished sixth through eighth respectively.
Gull Lake's Jessica Capron earned medalist honors as she shot a fine round of 78.
Dowagiac had three golfers finish in the top 10 on Tuesday.
Rebecca Howe led the Chieftains with a 100. Torie Lowe shot 103 and Tonya Scherer 105.
Dowagiac also got a 108 from Carly Gantt and a 111 from Jessica Krueger. Chelsea Whiteoak finished with a 134.
