Council may OK new city park

NILES – A short list of requests is on hand for tonight's Niles City Council meeting, which will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the council chambers, located at the Niles Fire Station.
Among the list of approvals will be a consideration of approving a request to award a contract for the construction of a new neighborhood park on the north side of Cass Street between Eighth St. and Ninth St. to Sinclair Recreation of Holland at a cost of $90,000, payable with Community Development Block Grant Funds and consideration of authorizing the city administrator to sign the contract.
Also, it will be considered to accept a proposal from Jim Ralph Concrete of Edwardsburg for the completion of concrete repair work at Clevenger Park at a cost of $4,412.
Other items being requested are:
Consideration of accepting a proposal from AIS Engine Corporation of Grand Rapids to provide a 170 H.P., 7.3 liter engine with a 2-year warranty for installation in a Street Department vehicle at a cost of $5,100 is on the agenda.
Consideration of approving a request to purchase a 2008 Ford Ranger from Campbell Ford of Niles, for use by the Utilities Department at a cost of $10,544.
Consideration of approving a home improvement loan request from Virginia Skelton of 603 Howard Street in the amount of $10,000 and consideration of approving a home improvement loan request from Patricia Hanlon for 914 N. 4th Street in the amount of $9,750.
