Niles volleyball team in Kalamazoo today

KALAMAZOO – The Niles varsity volleyball team will compete in the Kalamazoo Central Mid-Season Classic on Saturday.
The Vikings and Maroon Giants will be joined by Milford, Grand Ledge, Pinckney, Traverse City West, Monroe, North Branch, Okemos, Wyandotte, East Lansing, Wyoming Park and Mercy.
Also scheduled to take part are North Muskegon, Flint Central, Romeo, Flushing, Fraser, Lakeland, Three Rivers, West Ottawa, South Lyons, Farmington, Clio, Otsego, Northville, Marian, Reeths Puffer, Churchill, Blissfield, Bedford and Loy Norrix.
The tournament will be played at three sites: Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo Central and Loy Norrix.
Niles will open up play at Kalamazoo College as it competes in the White Pool against Traverse City West, Monroe and North Branch.
In the Maroon Pool at Kalamazoo College will be Kalamazoo Central, Milford, Grand Ledge and Pinckney.
Pool play is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Pool play will consist of two games with rally scoring to 25, with a cap at 25 points.
Following pool play, teams will be re-seeded into a Gold, Silver and Bronze playoff bracket. Those games will be a best two-out-of-three format with rally scoring to 25 with no cap. If a third game is necessary, it will be played to 15 with no cap.
Niles will open up pool play against Traverse City West. The Lady Vikings will then face North Branch at 10 a.m. and wrap up pool play at 11:30 a.m. against Monroe.
