Niles freshmen now 4-0 after win over Marshall

NILES – The Niles freshmen football team improved to 4-0 on Thursday night with a 23-6 win over host Marshall.
Marshall is the first team to score on the Vikings this season, but were unable to stop Niles from continuing its winning ways.
The Vikings fumbled on its first possession of the game and Marshall scored on the very next play – a 58-yard pass.
From that point on, the Niles defense stuffed the Redhawks.
Justin and Jordan Pothoff both rushed for more than 130 yards in the contest. Jordan Pothoff scored on a 67-yard run and kicked an extra point, while Justin Pothoff scored on a 52-yard run and caught a 2-point conversion pass.
Cody Sisk and Tyler Fisher were singled out for their play on the offensively line.
Defensively for Niles, Ronnie Smith, Justin and Jordan Pothoff, along with Zach Holt, played well defensively for the Vikings.
The Pothoffs both had three tackles for loss, while Nick Lucero intercepted a pass.
Niles hits the road again on Thursday night as it travels to St. Joseph.
