Niles seniors Samantha Brawley and Ben Brandstatter have been named the Leader Publications Athletes of the Week for the Niles Daily Star.
Brawley finished ninth at the St. Joseph Invitational in the junior-senior race.
Niles did not have enough runners to compete as a team.
Brandstatter rushed for 247 yards and four touchdowns in the first half of the Vikings' 33-7 victory over Sturgis in its home opener.
Brandstatter finished with 284 yards rushing for the varsity football team.
Each week one boy and one girl will be selected as the Athlete of the Week.
The athletes are selected from nominations from their coaches.
