NILES – The Niles freshman football team had a 14-6 advantage over Battle Creek Lakeview when the game was called due to a tornado warning.
The offense was led by Nick Lucero, Jordan Potthoff and Justin Potthoff.
On the defensive side of the ball, Mike Gentry perfomed well for the Vikings.
Under MHSAA rules, Niles was awarded the victory because they lead at halftime when the game was ended.
Junior Varsity
At the end of the first quarter, the junior varsity game was postponed due to inclement weather.
The Vikings committed three turnovers, which all lead to touchdowns by Lakeview, but a 55-yard touchdown run by Aaron Davis put Niles on the scoreboard.
The game is scheduled to be continued this Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Viking Stadium.
