NILES – It would be easy to get caught up in all the hoopla surrounding the Senior League World Series.
But according to Niles All-Star manager Bill Coar, the team will continue to take things game by game.
"We just have to play our game," Coar said. "We only talk about one game at a time. We want the kids to remain focused on our current opponent."
Coar also said that the team would not vary from its normal routine.
"We want to continue to do things the same way we have for each of the tournaments," he said. "We don't want to vary our routine."
His other goal?
"This is supposed to be a fun situation," Coar said. "They kids have got to have fun. This will be more stressful for the coaches."
Niles has a team filled with talent and experienced baseball players.
The strengths of the team according to Coar has been its balance.
"We have good pitching, we play good defense and we hit the ball well," he said. "I think that's what makes us such a good team. We are balanced."
Niles will open the World Series on Sunday night against defending champion Paraguana Little League from Falcon, Venezuela.
