NILES – The Niles All-Stars captured the Michigan Senior League state championship Tuesday afternoon in Macomb with an 11-1 victory over Petoskey.
Niles went undefeated in the tournament to capture the championship and will now head to Peru, Ill. to compete in the Little League Regional.
The All-Stars banged out 16 hits and stole 10 bases against Petoskey, which was completely over matched.
Dominique Pompey doubled and tripled to league Niles offensively.
Taylor Ort singled and doubled twice, while Will Coar added two singles and a double. The All-Stars also got a single and a double from Corey Johnson.
Dan Reidenbach and Jesse McCombs both finished with two hits. Kevin Gross had the other hit for the All-Stars.
Ort worked the first three innings, allowing one run on four hits. Tyler Knisely came on and finished, allowing just one hit.
