CASSOPOLIS – At about 1 a.m. Sunday, the Cass County Sheriff's Office road patrol received a tip from a concerned citizen of a chemical-type smell and meth-related activity taking place at a home in the 2600 block of Alane Court in Howard Township.
The road patrol then called in the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team to assist in the investigation.
Once inside the home, detectives located methamphetamine product as well as an entire unassembled clandestine methamphetamine laboratory.
It was determined that the occupants of the residence had been cooking meth earlier in the day and the lab had since been torn down.
After conducting the investigation, 31-year-old Benjamin G. Moore of Buchanan and 17-year-old Sarah E. McGraw of Niles were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine laboratory components and possession of methamphetamine.
Both subjects were transported to the Cass County Jail.
Moore and McGraw were arraigned Monday at Cass County Fourth District Court on the charges stemming from the methamphetamine investigation.
Moore's bond was set at $40,000 cash/surety while McGraw's bond was set at $20,000 cash/surety. Anyone with information regarding this or any other illegal activity may call the Cass County Crime Tip Line at 1-800-462-9328.
