Niles man arraigned on multiple drug charges

NILES – Fernando Medrano-Cardenas, 37, was charged by the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office Friday with delivery and manufacture of marijuana, maintaining a drug house and violation of the drug free school zone.
These charges stem from his arrest and search of a home in the 1400 block of Merrifield Avenue in the City of Niles Thursday evening. The home on Merrifield Avenue is located within 50 feet of the Niles Senior High School.
The arrest and search resulted in the seizure of 24 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $24,000. Two vehicles were seized for civil forfeiture.
Medrano-Cardenas was arraigned at the Niles Trial Court around 1:30 p.m. Friday afternoon and is being held on $5,000 bond.
